At Athena we arrange lunch lectures, company visits, brunches, and our successful mentoring program! Regardless of gender. Checkout our previous events here.

The events will be open for all students at LTH. Keep an eye out for upcoming events on this page as we update it regularly.

We have started a project group that organises events with a goal to promote women's place in the technological world. Everyone is welcome to be a part of Athena's project group and attend Athena's events.

Meet our current project group members!

Siri Wetterstrand

Project leader

Studying Mechanical engineering with Technical design

My intentions for Athena in general is that we will become more visible, both for students and companies. In my role as project manager, my ambitions are that everyone in the project group feel included and to distribute tasks in the best possible way based on our different areas of competence. On a more personal note, as project manager I get to constantly develop my leadership skills, which feels very rewarding!

My best memory with Athena is the kick-off for the mentorship program this spring when, after a long period of planning, we met all mentors and students at Valvet in Lund. It was so fun to see the plans come true and to get the faces of all those we had email correspondence with for six months!"

Caroline Olsmats

Business manager

"I joined the project group in the fall of 2019 just like Siri Wetterstrand, who is now the project manager. Athena then got a project group where all employees were new to their positions, so a small starting distance was required for us to familiarize ourselves with Athena's work. "

Elin Cardell

"We are a great group where everyone has different experience and competence. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to hang out that much in reality, but I hope that will be possible during the spring. I also think it feels great to support female students during their studies at LTH and thereby also women in the engineering industry.

I love to be involved in the student life! I’m a part of the communication committee at the guild of mechanical engineering, which primarily is responsible for spreading information to the members of the guild and to capture moments in pictures and videos. During 2020 I’ve been photographer, which has been a lot of fun, and now for 2021 I’m elected as president for the committee. I’m also class representative for my class, which means that I have contact with the lecturers and course coordinators to discuss the students' opinions on the education."

Janani Mudaliyar

Mentor program co-ordinator

Studying Wireless Communications

I consider myself as the bridge between students and mentors from various companies. My tasks involve creating awareness amongst both, the students and the companies about the benefits of joining the mentorship program. As part of the program, I match students with different companies based on their interests. Besides these roles I enjoy designing websites as a hobby. Athena gave me an opportunity to design the Athena webpage!

On career front, I’m currently adding final touches to my master thesis at Ericsson AB and have 4 months left for graduation. Further, my plan is to stay in Sweden (jag gillar fika!) and find jobs within the Information and Communication Technology sector."

Frida Takman

Mentor program co-ordinator

"For me it’s very important that women know their incredible value, and especially in technical contexts such as LTH. I know myself how much it helps me by having a female network to make me feel a little braver and more welcome, and I would like to be involved and help others feel the same way. Athena also felt exciting because it is for the whole school so that you also get the opportunity to meet students from other guilds.

I see Athena as an excellent way to both get to know new people but also to learn more from other people's educations and to explore the world of technology in a new way."
